Dear Member Friends,

Warm greetings from Sri Viswa Viznana Vidya Adhyathmika Peetham on this proud and auspicious occasion of India’s Independence Day!

We extend our heartfelt wishes to each of you for a Very Happy Independence Day! This is not merely a day of celebration—it is a moment for all Indians to reflect upon the sacrifices, struggles, and triumphs that brought freedom to our beloved Motherland.

India’s journey to freedom was neither easy nor short. Centuries of oppression, abuse, and foreign rule drained the spirit of our people. Yet, amidst these dark times, Mahatma Gandhi illuminated a path rooted in non-violence, peace, and spiritual strength. His noble vision, combined with the tireless efforts of great leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Bala Gangadhar Tilak, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sarojini Naidu, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bipin Chandra Pal, Aurobindo Ghosh, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and countless known and unknown heroes, led India to her long-awaited freedom.

History’s Timeless Lessons on Freedom

History reminds us that no force on earth can suppress the human spirit forever. Even through centuries of oppression, the light of hope, courage, and inner strength burned silently within the hearts of people. True change, as history teaches us, begins when ordinary individuals unite with extraordinary determination and purpose.

Our freedom fighters demonstrated that sacrifices made with love for the nation lay the foundation for the liberty of future generations. History shows us the power of unity, patience, resilience, and faith in justice. It reminds us that great victories are often born from humble beginnings, steadfast hearts, and unwavering resolve—even in the darkest of times.

Furthermore, history teaches us that freedom is not solely political; it is also spiritual, mental, and social. It calls upon us to rise above narrow divisions and to embrace universal values of brotherhood, harmony, compassion, and respect for all beings, irrespective of caste, creed, gender, race, religion, or region.

These are not merely lessons from the past; they are living principles for us to uphold in our daily lives. In doing so, we carry forward the true spirit of independence.

The True Meaning of Freedom: Responsibility in Action

It is important to remember that freedom without responsibility is hollow. True freedom requires sincerity, accountability, and conscious action—towards ourselves, our families, our nation, and our environment.

On August 15, 1947, India awoke to a new dawn of freedom. As our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, declared in his historic “Tryst with Destiny” speech:

“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.”

Without freedom, life becomes stagnant, devoid of purpose, creativity, and opportunity—much like a puppet or a shadow lacking its own will.

A Question for Our Times: Are We Truly Free?

Even today, we must ask ourselves:
Are we truly free in the deepest sense?
Perhaps not entirely. While financial security may offer a sense of freedom, many of us are still bound by emotional attachments, mental burdens, and the weight of past experiences. Dependency creates weakness — when we rely too much on people, situations, or outcomes, we make ourselves vulnerable. When what we depend upon is denied or removed, suffering naturally follows. Likewise, expectancy — the habit of expecting certain results or behaviours — leads to disappointment and inner turmoil. Both dependency and expectancy tie us to external factors, keeping us from experiencing true freedom.

The Path to Inner Freedom: Thrayee Sadhana

How can we achieve a truly free-spirited and independent life?
The answer lies in sincere and consistent spiritual practice.

Devotion, Faith, Purpose, and Knowledge form the four foundational pillars of life. Above all, we are guided and protected by God and Guru, grounded by Mother Earth, and blessed with the human body as the sacred means to perform sadhana.

Our Peetham advocates the Universal Sadhana known as Thrayee Sadhana, a practice inclusive of all faiths and designed for universal spiritual growth. Thrayee Sadhana offers a way: to reduce dependency, to let go of expectations, and to cultivate inner strength and equanimity. True freedom begins when we no longer look outward for our happiness or validation. In addition this sadhana leads true Sadhakas to ultimate liberation and salvation.

This sacred path consists of three core dimensions:

  1. Mantra Sadhana – Reciting the sacred mantra given by the Sath Guru.
  2. Jnana Sadhana – Studying spiritual and philosophical scriptures.
  3. Dhyana Sadhana – Engaging in meditation to cultivate inner stillness and awareness.

These practices, though simple in nature, hold profound depth. A sincere and dedicated practitioner of Thrayee Sadhana, through the grace and blessings of Sathguru, can attain liberation even within this very life.
