Newsletter – Oct 2026

Dear Member Friends,

We, from the desk of Sri Viswa Viznana Vidya Adhyathmika Peetham, wish you all a very Happy Gandhi Jayanti, International Day of Non-Violence, and Dussehra – Vijaya Dasami.

This October brings together two significant occasions that convey profound messages for humanity: Gandhi Jayanti and the International Day of Non-Violence, observed on October 2nd, and Dussehra, or Vijaya Dasami, which celebrates the victory of righteousness and truth over evil.

Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri ji and Mahatma Gandhi ji were both born on October 2nd. Though they followed their own paths and served the nation in different capacities, both stood firmly for the ideals they believed in and dedicated their lives to the service of the nation.

The United Nations General Assembly observes October 2nd as the International Day of Non-Violence in honour of Mahatma Gandhi and his philosophy of non-violence. Gandhiji demonstrated to the world that great changes can be brought about through truth, non-violence, courage, discipline, and peaceful collective action.

Mahatma Gandhi played a significant role in India’s freedom movement by inspiring millions to participate in a struggle based on Satyagraha – the pursuit of truth through non-violent means. The Indian freedom movement demonstrated to the world the strength of a people united by truth, courage, sacrifice, and spiritual conviction.

India has a profound spiritual heritage. The values of Dharma, Sathya, Ahimsa, compassion, self-discipline, and universal brotherhood have been part of our spiritual tradition for centuries. The message of non-violence reminds us that true strength does not necessarily lie in physical power, but in the ability to remain steadfast in truth and righteousness.

The significance of Dussehra, also known as Vijaya Dasami, beautifully complements this message. Dussehra is celebrated as the triumph of Dharma over Adharma, truth over falsehood, and good over evil.

According to the traditional narrative, Goddess Durga defeated the demon Mahishasura, symbolising the victory of divine power and righteousness over destructive forces. Similarly, Lord Rama defeated Ravanasura, symbolising the victory of Dharma over Adharma.

These stories are not merely events to be remembered from the past. They also carry a deeper message for every individual.

Within each of us, there can be both positive and negative tendencies. Truth and falsehood, compassion and anger, humility and ego, love and hatred, wisdom and ignorance may arise in our thoughts and actions. Every moment gives us an opportunity to make a choice.

God has given human beings the precious gift of discrimination and wisdom—the ability to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong, what is temporary and what is eternal, and what leads us towards inner peace and what takes us away from it.

Therefore, the real celebration of Vijaya Dasami is not merely the destruction of an external symbol of evil. It is an opportunity to look within ourselves and overcome the negative tendencies that obstruct our spiritual progress.

Similarly, the true meaning of non-violence extends beyond avoiding physical violence. It encourages us to cultivate peaceful thoughts, compassionate words, self-control, forgiveness, and respect for every living being.

When truth becomes the foundation of our thoughts, love becomes the basis of our actions, and wisdom guides our decisions, our individual lives become more peaceful and meaningful.

The festivals and occasions we celebrate remind us that the eternal struggle between Dharma and Adharma is also taking place within us. The victory we truly need is the victory over our own ignorance, ego, fear, anger, and selfishness.

Through sincere spiritual practice and the guidance of a Sath Guru, we can gradually expand our consciousness, understand the deeper truth of life, and move towards lasting inner peace and bliss.

Therefore, dear Member Friends, let us make this Gandhi Jayanti, International Day of Non-Violence, and Vijaya Dasami an occasion for self-reflection, spiritual practice, truthfulness, compassion, and service.

Let us sincerely practise the Sadhana prescribed by our Sath Guru, follow the path shown by Him, cultivate love and wisdom within ourselves, and strive to lead a peaceful, purposeful, and bliss-filled life.

May the light of Truth illuminate our minds,
May the strength of Dharma guide our actions,
May compassion fills our hearts,
and may Divine Wisdom lead us towards inner freedom and eternal bliss.

Thanking you,

Spiritually Yours,
Renuka Devi Vangara
